Why not come in spring or autumn? Löderup lies in the southernmost tip of Sweden and enjoys a climate which one does not normally associate with Scandinavia. In winter, snow is the exception rather than the rule! Those who have bought their own holiday cottage here often use it year-round. Lots of city folk spend their Christmas here in the country! What can be better than an invigorating walk along the Baltic shores in winter followed by couple of hours in your own sauna (bastu, in Swedish) at home in your cottage or at your hotel? There are a number of hotels and bed & breakfasts that are open all the year. In the “off-season” prices tend to be lower and there is very little traffic on the roads making it easy to get about by car. Rent a cottage – or why not several –bring your friends and family! Locate your conference here in April/May or September/October - according to many, the months when Mother Nature here is at her absolutely most stunning! The region of Österlen offers many cultural activities in both spring and autumn. The Easter Art Circuit, The Autumn Apple Festival in Kivik or the Military Tattoo in Ystad, for example. At any time of the year you may well be unwittingly caught in a scene of a full length feature film! Ystad has a very productive film industry (even a film university!) and the on-location crews are often to be seen on the streets. First there was Hollywood, then Bollywood and now we have Hollystad! Several of the scenes from the BBC version of Inspector Wallander (with Kenneth Branagh) were filmed in the Löderup area. |
